The Scioto County Grand Jury handed down indictments against three people for endangering children and charged two others with crimes against a person in a protected class. Under Ohio law, the elderly and disabled are considered members of a protected class.
Ashley Newcomb, 37, of Wheelersburg, faces a charge of endangering children. Authorities issued an arrest warrant for Newcomb this afternoon. Newcomb will be arraigned in Scioto County Common Please Court on August 15.
Alexandria Sanders, 27, of Portsmouth, was also indicted for endangering children. Scioto County Common Pleas Court scheduled her hearing for August 21.
James Dennis, 31, of Portsmouth, faces charges of aggravated arson and endangering children. His hearing date is set for August 15.
Jerry Jordan, 42, is accused of stealing from a person in a protected class. The Scioto County Common Pleas Court issued a warrant for his arrest and his arraignment is scheduled for August 21.
Seth Smith, 34, is charged with Grand Theft Auto and with stealing from a person in a protected class. Scioto County Common Pleas Court issued an arrest warrant for the Portsmouth Man and scheduled his arraignment for August 15.
