A 12-year-old girl’s cry for help shocked viewers after she used TikTok to hint she wanted to end her life, setting off a chain reaction that brought Scioto County deputies to her door.
It happened around 11 a.m., when a caller reported that a young girl had been posting suicidal thoughts online. According to the official incident report filed by the Scioto County Sheriff’s Department, the girl’s troubling comments weren’t just limited to social media—some were made the day before while attending church camp.
Officers located the child in Wheelersburg. Deputies confirmed she went willingly with them and was transported for a mental health evaluation. Her current condition remains private due to her age, but she is receiving appropriate care.
Authorities stressed that these cases, while heartbreaking, are not uncommon in the digital age. “Social media has become both a window and a warning sign,” one officer noted.

Why This Matters: These cases aren’t isolated. Just last month, we reported on another young person in Scioto County whose online behavior signaled serious distress. It took a relative to notice and intervene.
The Bottom Line: Kids don’t always ask for help the right way—sometimes they just post. This time, someone was paying attention. Let’s hope next time, someone still is.
