A welfare check turned to tragedy after deputies responded to a request for a welfare check at a home on St. Rt. 348.
The caller said the woman was supposed to be at dialysis but hadn’t arrived. No one had been able to contact her. When a deputy arrived at the home, they looked through a window and saw a woman lying on a bed. However, she didn’t respond to a knock on the window.

Family members arrived to let the officer in, and they discovered that the woman was deceased.
Officers contacted the Scioto County Coroner, and the office released the deceased to a local funeral home.
