An inmate at the Greenup County Jail received some tragic news on Wednesday afternoon.
Around 3:20 p.m., medics and PPD responded to a report of a possibly deceased man at an apartment house in Portsmouth. Medics confirmed the man was dead and PPD officers reached out to the next of kin to find out which funeral home they preferred.
The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office helped locate the deceased’s son in Greenup County and break the sad news. Once officers knew the preferred funeral home, they arranged for them to take possession of the deceased.
