It was full steam ahead to jail for two people caught hanging out where they didn’t belong.
Just before 10 p.m., Norfolk Southern employees called Portsmouth Police to report a suspicious truck parked inside the rail yard—with people inside.
Officers responded quickly and detained two individuals at the scene. Randall Menda and Synthia McCreary were arrested and charged with criminal trespass, then booked into the Scioto County Jail.
Both suspects appeared in Portsmouth Municipal Court, where they pleaded no contest to the charges. The court ordered each to pay court costs only—no jail time.
Menda was released shortly after the hearing. McCreary, who is listed as homeless, was also released back onto the streets.
🚨 Another case closed—but it raises the ongoing question: How many more trespassers will walk in and out of jail like it’s a revolving door?
