Troubled Homeless Man Arrested for 26th Time
Police took a troubled homeless man into custody for the 26th time on Wednesday morning. Just after 9 am, police responded to a report of a man lying on the sidewalk on Vinton Avenue.
Officers took the troubled homeless man into custody for disorderly conduct. This was the 21-year-old man’s 8h arrest in the past two months and his 14th arrest this year. The man was almost immediately released from jail and arrested again on Wednesday – this time for criminal trespass and probation violation. That was his 26th arrest.
We told you earlier that the man had previously asked store employees to call police so that he could go to jail and have someplace to stay. An officer talked him into going to a rehab facility, but he only managed to stay a few hours.
On multiple occasions, medics have transported him to SOMC after he made threats of self-harm, but he is almost always immediately released back onto the streets.
Since most of his arrests are for misdemeanors like trespass and disorderly conduct, the courts are required by Ohio’s bail guidelines to almost always immediately release him back onto the streets.
