Deputies responded to two calls involving troubled children within 20 minutes on Saturday morning.
A child called 911 at 10 am and whispered they were planning on drinking bleach to kill themselves. The child’s grandmother got on the phone. She said she’d grounded the child off the phone and that may be why they got on and made the threats.
Officers learned there had been past homicidal threats and drug issues involving the minor. An ambulance responded to the scene and took the child to SOMC.
Just eighteen minutes later, a woman called 911 after a friend of her child’s asked to call the police because her sister planned to kill her and her little sister. The mom tried to contact the children’s grandmother to see what was happening but got no answer.
When officers responded to the scene, the grandmother said the kids were fighting, and that’s why they called 911. She asked officers to speak to the kids. Officers learned all three children had mental health issues for which they were receiving treatment for. The grandparents said they would separate the children for the day.
