Officers called in to make welfare checks for worried family members made two tragic discoveries within two hours.
The first happened on Garfield Avenue after family members requested a welfare check.
They told officers they hadn’t been able to contact a 70-year-old family member for several days. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered the individual deceased in their home.
Police contacted the coroner, who conferenced with officers and released the body to a local funeral home. Police processed the scene and took information for a report.
The second tragedy was on Dever Street. A relative told officers they were unable to make contact with the resident and couldn’t get in. The owner of the property brought a key to the scene and officers went into the home, where they discovered the deceased resident.
Police contacted the coroner, who gave permission to release the deceased to a local funeral home. Officers processed the scene and took information for a report.
