Scioto County deputies handled two devastating calls in a single day — each involving the sudden death of a loved one and leaving families reeling heading into the holiday season.
McDermott: Husband Found Dead After Apparent Suicide
Deputies rushed to a McDermott home after a distraught woman called 911 reporting that her husband had taken his own life inside their residence.
EMS and deputies arrived within minutes and confirmed the man was deceased. The Scioto County Coroner was contacted, and a transport team responded to take custody of the body. Deputies gathered information for their report as family members struggled with the sudden loss.
Lucasville: Relative Attempts CPR While Help Was En Route
Just before 10 p.m., a relative in Lucasville made a frantic call to 911 reporting that a family member was unresponsive. Dispatchers immediately began coaching the caller through CPR while officers and the fire department were headed to the scene.
However, the responding squad did not confirm it was en route until approximately 10:12 p.m. When medics arrived, they sadly confirmed the individual had passed away. The deceased was transported to the SOMC morgue.
