First responders in Scioto County had their hands full this week with two separate rollover crashes that left drivers and passengers injured, power lines down, and entire roadways shut down.
Rollover on State Route 823
Deputies, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers, and multiple EMS crews rushed to State Route 823 near Wheelersburg after reports of a one-vehicle rollover. The car was found on its roof with two adults and one child trapped inside, including a woman pinned in the wreckage.
Green, Porter, and Sciotoville EMS assisted in the rescue while officers shut down the exit ramp to give crews room to work. Within 20 minutes, all passengers were freed from the overturned vehicle. Green EMS transported the child to the hospital for treatment, while the adults were also evaluated.
Cadillac Crashes Into Pole on Milldale Road
Not long after, officers were called to Milldale Road for another rollover crash involving a purple Cadillac. Police said the vehicle left the roadway, struck a utility pole, and flipped over, splitting the pole in half and sending it crashing into a resident’s yard. Power lines were knocked down, prompting officers to call AEP to secure the scene.
Witnesses reported the driver appeared to be under the influence. Officers took a woman into custody, then transported her to Southern Ohio Medical Center for treatment. The heavily damaged Cadillac was towed from the scene.
A Reminder on Road Safety
Rollover accidents are among the most dangerous types of crashes, often leaving drivers and passengers trapped inside vehicles.
