With hearts full of love and sadness, we share that Tyler Jordan Ashley, 37, of New Boston, Ohio, passed away on October 30, 2025, at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. Born in Portsmouth on December 8, 1987, Tyler was the beloved son of the late Donald Ashley and Cheryl (Hankins) Ashley.
Anyone who knew Tyler knew he lived life with energy, laughter, and a big heart. He loved his hobbies — collecting silver, trading Funko Pops, getting lost in Xbox games, and talking about guns or Pokémon — but more than anything, he loved his people. Tyler was a family guy through and through, always the first to lend a hand, crack a joke, or make sure everyone else was okay.
A proud 2007 graduate of Wheelersburg High School, Tyler never lost touch with his roots. He valued family above all else and built his life around the ones he loved most.
He is survived by his mother, Cheryl Ashley of Portsmouth; sister Katrina and brother-in-law Nathan Dillow of New Boston; grandfather, Donald Ashley of Wheelersburg; nephews, Josh (Naudia) Tabor of Chillicothe and Jayse Tabor of New Boston; nieces, Kaelyn Tabor of New Boston and Natelie Dillow of South Shore, KY; and great-niece, Mayleigh Tabor of Chillicothe. He also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. A heartfelt thank-you goes out to Aunt Cheryl Hankins for her constant support and love.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tyler’s life on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, followed by a service at 7:00 PM led by Pastor Aaron Reed. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of D.W. Swick Funeral Home.
Tyler’s light will never fade — it will shine on in every laugh, every memory, and every person lucky enough to have known him.
