Victoria Jane ‘Janie’ Lucas, 73, of Portsmouth, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at The Piketon Pavilion Nursing Home. She was born on February 13, 1952, in Cleveland, a daughter of the late Luther Martin and Kathleen Jean Newsome Middleton.
On May 6, 1995, Janie married James Edward Lucas in South Portsmouth, KY, and the couple had been married for 24 years at the time of his passing on July 29, 2019.
Janie was a member of Coles Boulevard First Church of God and a former teacher’s aide at Portsmouth First Church of the Nazarene’s Kiddie Land. She retired from the City of Portsmouth Water Works Department, where she worked as a cashier. A 1970 graduate of Portsmouth High School, Janie attended Kentucky Christian University and received an Associate Degree in Secretarial Science from the former Portsmouth Interstate Business College. She loved to shop, but above all, Janie loved Jesus and her family.
Surviving are her sons, Michael David (Stephanie) Hamilton, and Robert Price, of Portsmouth; a daughter, Staci (Ryan) Harsh of Reynoldsburg; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, LouAnn Blair; and a great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Monday, July 21, 2025, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor Chad Benner officiating. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery.
