Trigger Warning – if you’re sensitive to stories of animal abuse, you may want to stop reading now.
Police and animal welfare authorities are investigating an upsetting case of animal abuse. Officials say it first came to their attention when Elizabeth Zurcher-Wood rushed a sick kitten to a Portland, Oregon animal hospital saying it was sick.

Vets were shocked to discover the tiny animal had been dyed bright pink. They said the animal was barely moving and in shock.
The woman, who’d previously been arrested for attempting to abduct a child while wielding a machete, told vets she’d cleaned the helpless animal with rubbing alcohol, Windex, and Spic and Span after it fell sick.
Officers arrested the woman for animal abuse and officials say the kitten has recovered and is now in a foster home.
Two years ago, the 39-year-old Wood accosted a family at a restaurant armed with an ax and machete and tried to kidnap a 6-year-old boy in broad daylight. The family fought her off by throwing things at her. She responded by calling them racial slurs and fleeing the scene.
