In a disturbing incident reported on Sunday, January 7, 2024, the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office was notified about a shocking case of sexual assault against two juveniles, both under the age of 10. Sheriff David Thoroughman immediately dispatched a deputy and detective to conduct a full investigation.
Working in collaboration with the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victim’s Unit, detectives engaged with victims and witnesses, collecting crucial information that ultimately led to the identification of a suspect.
The alleged suspect, identified as Jonathan Andrew Gold, 31, residing on Bihl Lane in Wheelersburg, Ohio, was apprehended by deputies. Following his detainment, a thorough search of Gold’s residence was conducted, resulting in the collection of significant evidence.
Gold now faces serious charges, including 10 counts of Rape of a Child Under the age of 10, a first-degree felony, and one count of Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor, a second-degree felony. Presently held on a substantial $1,020,000 bond, Gold is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday, January 8, 2024.
Sheriff Thoroughman emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, suggesting that additional charges may be presented at the Scioto County Grand Jury on a later date.
