Willard “Bill” Fenton, 86, of South Webster, passed away June 26, 2025, at SOMC Hospice Center. He was born February 20,1939, in Scioto Furnace, a son of the late Edward and Cora (Aeh) Fenton.
Bill joined the Army after graduating from South Webster High School in the class of 1957 as the Salutatorian. He was a former member of the South Webster Fire Department. Bill worked for the F.H. Simmering & Son store, Detroit Steel, Lucasville Correctional Facility, US Post Office, and later retired from the A-Plant. His favorite job, though, was buying and selling Ginseng and running Fenton’s Ginseng. Bill attended South Webster Community Church, he liked all sports, and especially loved the Jeeps. He could watch baseball games from his back yard along with his friends who were known as “The over 80 Cheer Block”. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, Ohio State Football and playing golf where he got many Holes in One.
Bill is survived by his wife Sarah Fenton; two daughters, Jane (Bill) Raison of Wheelersburg and Kim (Carl) Rice of South Webster; a brother Frank (Patty) Fenton of Columbus; two sisters, Linda Bishop of Sciotoville and Janet Meadows of Scioto Furnace; 6 grandchildren, Michelle (Jared) Canter, Aaron (Miranda) Fenton, Patrick (Ashley) Rice, Adam (Amy) Rice, Emily (Nathan) DeCamp, Grace Raison and fiancé, Dallas Kastens; 5 great grandchildren, Nathan and Mia Canter, Wade and Waylon Fenton and Lily Rice.
Bill was also preceded in death by a son, James “Jim” Fenton, sisters, infant Mary Lou Fenton, Rose Fenton, Louise Knight, Marge Lenyo, Helen Walker and JoAnn Williams; brothers, infant Roger Fenton, Richard, Albert , Fred and John Fenton.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Monday, June 30, 2025, at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in South Webster with Pastor Merit Smith officiating. Interment will follow at South Webster Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors by Minford James Erwin Post 622 and Lucasville American Legion. Visitation will be Sunday 5 to 7 PM and one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home.
