William “Wid or Bill” Loren Vansickle, 93, entered eternity in Heaven with his Lord & Savior on Thursday, March 31, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 21, 1928, in Greenup, KY., to the late Fred & Ethel Vansickle.
William and Wilma (Bloomfield) Vansickle were married for 71 years when she passed from this Earth in August 2020. Wid’s greatest joy in life was sharing the name of Jesus with anyone and everyone he talked to. Although most didn’t understand when they were younger, his children have always remembered their father asking anyone he connected with if they were saved and if they knew where they were going when they died. If you had the pleasure of knowing Wid, you also knew he absolutely cherished his grand and great-grandchildren.
He loved when they came for a visit, sang him hymns & went on adventures in the buggy with him. Following closely behind his relationship with Christ, family meant everything to Wid. Just having the family together filled his heart with so much pride and happiness. He also enjoyed fishing, smoking a good cigar & his big leaf “chaw”. Although he will be greatly missed, his family finds unending comfort in knowing that Wid was ready to go to his eternal home. He was excited to see his wife, brothers, sisters and so many family members that had accepted salvation and gone before him.
Along with his parents & wife, Wilma, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Pitts; a granddaughter, Tina Neal; infant great-grandchildren and great-great-grandson, Landon Neil; five brothers and two sisters.
Those who remain on Earth and remember his memories are: his kids, Pat (Dale) Stanley of Wheelersburg, OH, Karen Sue (Jim) Hafer of Portsmouth, OH, Danny Vansickle of South Shore, KY, Faye Vansickle of Centerpoint, IN, Kay (Tom) Riley, Jeff (Vickie) Vansickle, Bill (Rhonda) Vansickle and Tim (Emma) Vansickle all of South Shore, KY; brother, Melvin “Huddie” Vansickle of Medway, OH; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; his beloved squirrel dog Sally; friends & many other family members.
Funeral Services will be 11 A.M. Monday, April 4, 2022, at Siloam Missionary Baptist Church in South Shore, KY., with Philipp Stephens and Brandon Vansickle officiating. Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery in South Shore, KY. Visitation will be Sunday, April 3, 2022, from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., and Monday one hour before the service at the Church.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Rena, Chris, Cindy, C.J., Glenda, and the SOMC staff for the care that was given during this difficult time.
