What started as an argument over a temporary living arrangement ended with shattered glass, injuries, and a woman disappearing before deputies could find her.
According to investigators, the trouble began when a homeowner decided it was time for a guest who had been staying at his residence for several days to move on.
The homeowner told deputies the woman did not actually live at the house but had been staying there temporarily. He said tensions escalated when he told her she needed to leave and return to her own home.
Things reportedly got worse when the woman became verbally aggressive.
According to the report, the homeowner’s child was present during the argument, prompting him to ask her to stop using profanity around the youngster.
Instead of calming down, investigators say the confrontation continued to escalate.
The homeowner told deputies the woman attempted to strike him with her fists before he gathered her belongings, placed them outside, and escorted her from the residence.
That wasn’t the end of it.
According to the report, after being put outside, the woman grabbed a shovel and began attacking the front door.
The homeowner said he was standing on the opposite side of the door when the shovel struck the glass.
Deputies documented extensive damage to the entrance, including shattered glass and damage to the door itself.
The homeowner also suffered cuts to his hand from the broken glass.
Photos were taken of the injuries, the damaged doorway, and the shovel allegedly used during the incident.
The disturbance occurred at a residence in Chesapeake.
After gathering evidence and obtaining a written statement from the homeowner, deputies launched a search for the woman.
Officers checked locations where she was believed to be staying and patrolled the surrounding area, but they were unable to locate her.
The case remains under investigation.
