Woman Arrested After Man Found Dead
Portsmouth Police Officers responded to two reports of dead bodies within an hour and tried to assist parents in dealing with troubled kids. We break down the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Out of Control Grandson
A fed-up grandma contacted police at 1:47 am and asked that they remove her grandson from her home because he was tearing up the place.
Officers took the man into custody.
Suspicious Activity
Officers responded to a report of a man passed out at McDonald’s just after 5 am. Police sent the man on his way
Woman Arrested For Obstructing Justice After Death On 21st Street
A 22-year old woman was arrested for obstructing justice after the death of a 51-year-old man.
At 3:11 pm, police responded to 21st Street for a report of a man not breathing. Police called the coroner to the scene and took a woman into custody on an open warrant.
The coroner gave the clear to release the body to the family and a funeral home collected the deceased.
Dead on Arrival
Another family lost a loved one just a few minutes later. Just before 5 pm, a caller reported that a female family member was not breathing on High Street. Officers contacted the coroner’s office.
The coroner released the body to the family who contacted a funeral home to pick up the deceased.
Under the Influence
- Just before 6:30 pm, a caller reported a man overdosing in front of a Thomas Avenue apartment. The man refused medical treatment.
- Just after 5 am, a caller reported a woman passed out behind the Royal Inn. The fire department transported the woman to SOMC.
- At 7 am, a Walnut Street caller reported an apparently high man going through the trash and throwing it everywhere. Police made contact with the man and sent him on his way.
Acting Out
- Police were called to a 4th Street residence for a report of a teenager causing a disturbance in the home. CPS said they would meet with the mother in the morning.
- Officers responded to Thomas Avenue for a report of an unruly 11-year-old. The mom said the child was already due in court for being unruly and had been suspended from school. The girl was especially upset because her mother took her phone. Police spoke with the child.
