A woman in need of last-minute birthday gifts went on a shoplifting spree at the South Point Walmart.
When deputies arrived at the store, security told them they’d spotted a man removing security tags from items and a woman walking around gathering up jewelry, clothing, and other items.
She took them to the back of the store, began stuffing them into Walmart bags, and then left the store. Employees stopped her at the door.
When officers spoke to her, she said she needed birthday presents for her daughter’s party the next day. She told officers she didn’t have a job, so she couldn’t buy anything. The woman also said she had a heroin problem but planned to go to rehab after the birthday party.
Police took her into custody and booked her into the Lawrence County Jail.
