Just before 5:30 pm on Friday, police received a call that a female was in the process of stabbing herself inside the Giovanni’s Pizza on 11th Street in Portsmouth.
Medics were asked to stage until the scene could be secured.

The police confirmed that she stabbed herself with an unknown object. They described it as several puncture wounds to the abdomen.
AirEvac and Medflight were contacted. Medflight was available to be on standby if needed.
Medics asked them to please go to “SOMC STAT.”
AirEvac called back and said they were available on their pad located on Union Street. Medflight was going to be 36 minutes. They opted to take the patient straight to the waiting helicopter.
As the female was transported to the helicopter, police began investigating what happened.
