Woman Threatens To Stab Baby

A Portsmouth, Ohio woman allegedly threatened to stab a baby, a grandma turned in her grandson to police, and some sent nasty pictures to a child. Those are just some of the calls PPD responded to on an incredibly busy day.

Explosion Reported on 8th Street

At 2 am, a caller reported hearing an explosion on 8th Street. The caller also said they saw smoke coming from the house.

Officers checked the home. They found drug paraphernalia inside, but no signs of a meth lab.

Turned in by Grandma

An unhappy grandma called the police just before 3 am to turn in her grandson. She said he showed up at her home. She wanted him to leave and she told officers he had a warrant.

PPD checked and found he did indeed have a warrant through the Sheriff’s Office. Police arrested him and took him to the Scioto County Jail

B & E In Progress

Just after 4 am, a caller told police a man kicked in a door in the area of 18th and Timmonds. The callers also reported the man had some type of cart with him.

Officers located the man near 17th and Hutchins. He was riding a bike pulling a cart. It turned out he had a warrant. He claimed he had nothing to do with the reported B & E. Police took him to the Scioto County Jail where the SCSO issued a summons.

Out of Jail and Out Of Money

A man called police at 4:41 am to report that he came home from jail and discovered someone stole his money. He claimed to have the crime on video.

The man told police he thought his sister was the culprit. He refused to file a report.

Roommates Rumble

Feuding housemates called 911 ten times in just a few hours. At 5 pm a Pleasant Avenue woman called police while an officer was already at the scene to report her housemate for beating on the door.

A few minutes later she called back to say she was in fear for her life and the man was climbing in the window.

It turned out the man had lived in the home for three years. Officers explained that if she wants him gone, she’ll have to file an eviction notice.

She called again at 6:18 am to report she’d locked the man out of the house and he was once again beating on the door.

The woman claimed the man was on drugs. However, police said he was in his own home with a friend. Officers advised all parties to just avoid each other.

Missing Person

A 17th Street caller reported a missing woman just after 6:30 am. Officers took information for a report.

Under The Influence

  • Officers responded to Thomas Avenue for a report of a woman passed out in a vehicle. New Boston Police arrived to serve a warrant on the woman and officers took her into custody.
  • A caller reported a woman passed out in a car at the Dollar General on Harding at 7:44 pm. The woman told police she argued with her boyfriend and was too emotional to drive. She locked up the car and called her mom for a ride home.
  • A caller reported an apparently impaired driver and followed that person to King’s Daughters Medical Center at 8:37 pm. When police spoke with the drive, she told them had an ear infection. Officers said she did not appear to be impaired but advised her to get a ride home after she was checked out at the hospital.
  • Officers responded to a report of a domestic argument on Farney Avenue at 9 pm. The man allegedly kicked in the front door. An office dropped the man off to his sober brother.
  • A caller reported to people passed out in a vehicle at 9:16 pm on Center Street. Police took the men into custody and arranged for the car to be towed.

Vehicles Damaged

  • Officers responded to Mound Street for a report of a vehicle broken into and damaged at 12:16 pm.
  • At 12:49 pm, police responded to 5th Street for a report of a window busted out of a vehicle.

DOA

First responders answered a call to Hill View Retirement Center for a report of an unresponsive woman. They were informed CPR was in process. The victim did not survive. A funeral home picked up the body.

Scam Domestic Call

At 1:16 pm, officers responded to a report of a domestic incident between a Dorman Drive woman and a man who allegedly had warrants. No one was at the residence.

When the woman got home, she called police to find out why they’d been at her apartment. She said she’d had not domestic problems and wasn’t even home.

She believes her child’s father made the report due to an ongoing custody dispute.

Hey! That’s My Stuff

  • The Family Dollar on 11th Street reported a shoplifter made off with a variety of candy. A clerk got the license plate of their vehicle. Police took a report.
  • Officers answered a call to Frank & Stein’s Lounge for a report of a theft at 4 pm. A woman said a man sitting at the bar stole her money. Police determined it was a civil issue.
  • A woman called police to report a friend stole her social security card and her school Chromebook at 4:06 pm. Offices took information for a report.
  • At 5:38 pm, a Rose Street caller told police she paid for a puppy but never received it. Officer took information for a report and suggested she contact Money Gram and attempt to get a refund.

Nasty Picture To A Kid

A woman called police at 3:44 pm to report a man sending nasty pictures to a child via a phone app. The woman had no idea who the man was or where he might live.

Officers advised her to delete the app and contact them if he attempts to make further contact with the child.

Threats With Weapons

  • A Wayne Avenue woman called police at 4:45 pm to report a man threatened to shoot her husband. Officers took information for a report.
  • At 7:42 pm, a Kendall Avenue woman reported two men held her brother at gunpoint. Police took information for a report.
  • Officers responded to a report of a man threatening a woman with a knife on 17th Street at 8:43 pm. Police took information for a report.

Threats Against Baby

A worried grandma called police at 9:38 pm to report her son said his girlfriend was threatening to stab him and their baby.

Police arrested the girlfriend.

Cussing Out Mom

A Mabert Road woman called police at 10 pm to report her son had cussed her out and threatened her. She called back to say he’d left. Police advised her to contact them if there were further problems.
