Woman Tries to Kick Out Her COVID-Positive Relatives

Police came to the aid of a confused dementia sufferer and a woman tries to kick out her COVID-positive relatives. We break down the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.

Bad Boyfriend Steals Catalytic Converter

A resident of the Woodbine Apartments contacted police at 10:23 am to report that her boyfriend attempted to cut the catalytic converter off her vehicle.

However, police discovered the vehicle was registered to both parties. Officer advised them to put the plates on the vehicle ASAP or it would be towed. 

Domestic Violence

A Mabert Avenue man contacted officers at 10:32 am to report that his wife assaulted him when he inquired about the whereabouts of his children. He now had the children with him. Police took information for a report.

A mother-in-law contacted police at 1 am to report her son-in-law assaulted her daughter and then just went out a window. He was now passed out on the ground behind the apartment. Police took the man into custody. 

Man Claims Woman is Holding Him Hostage

Greenup County 911 relayed a call to PPD regarding a man who claimed he was being held hostage by a woman at a Thomas Avenue Apartment.

Officers walked the perimeter of a building but did not spot anything suspicious.

Take Your COVID and Leave

A woman contacted officers just before 1 pm and asked for help in getting her nephew and girlfriend to leave because they both have COVID and she doesn’t want to get sick.

Police advised the woman that she could not force them to leave since they are residents at the home. She also cannot force them to get a medical test. They advised her of the eviction process.

Camping Out at Woodbine Apartments

At 2:26 pm, a caller reported that several people put up a tent in a wooded area by the rental office. 

Police spoke with the homeless couple who said they had nowhere to go. Officers advised them to leave the area.

Police Assist Confused Dementia Sufferer

Officers received a call at 2:44 pm to report that a confused older man had attempted to get in someone’s car at the Post Office before wandering away down the street.

Officers located the man and contacted his son, who came to pick him up.

Under The Influence

A man contacted EMA at 11 pm to report he had alcohol poisoning. Officer responded to the 16th Street Apartments and the man was transported to SOMC.

Grand Theft Auto

Just after 7 am, police responded to Front Street for a report of a truck stolen from a construction area. Police took information for a report. 

Worried Mom

A worried mom reported her son missing at 10:13 am. She said he is a homeless drug addict and she has not heard from him in some time.

Police took a missing adult report. 

Tires Slashed on 16th Street

A 16th Street caller reported that someone slashed her tires just before 10 pm. However, police, said that the tires appeared to be badly damaged with dry rot.

Sex Crime Reported

A caller contacted police from SOMC to report a sex crime that allegedly occurred several months ago.

Vehicle Break-In

Officers responded to a report of a  vehicle break-in at Frank & Steins Lounge. The victim reported a missing computer 

Police patrolled the area to look for suspects but didn’t locate anyone.

Family Won’t Let COVID-Positive Patient Come Home
