It wasn’t sirens or shouting this time — just barking. But for one resident, it’s been constant enough to keep calling deputies back again and again.
The latest complaint came in as a noise issue, according to a report from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
The caller told authorities the dogs across the road bark for hours at a time, starting early in the morning and continuing late into the evening. He said it’s been an ongoing problem for months and that deputies have already responded multiple times.
When a deputy arrived, things were quiet at first. But just before leaving, a dog could be heard barking briefly in the distance — the same direction the caller had pointed out.
The deputy then checked the nearby property believed to be the source. Two dogs approached — one a brown boxer and the other a black dog resembling a retriever — and began barking while the deputy was on scene. Both settled down once approached.
Attempts to contact anyone at the residence were unsuccessful, though vehicles were parked in the driveway. A business card was left behind.
A third dog, described as a shepherd, was also observed at a nearby property. That dog barked briefly but remained inside a fenced area.
Records show deputies have responded to similar complaints at this location multiple times in recent weeks, including several calls in March and again on April 15.
Body camera footage from the latest response has been collected and attached to the report.
For now, the barking may come and go — but the calls keep coming right along with it.
