Misbehaving teens caused a panic on Chillicothe Street and an open trunk led to a felony bust. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Fight on Robinson Avenue
Just after midnight, officers responded to a report of several men fighting at Robinson Avenue and Offnere Street.
An officer headed to a home on Lincoln Street to speak with one of the men involved. Officers called EMS to evaluate the victim. Medics from the Portsmouth Fire Department responded to check out the man while police stood by.
The man refused to press charges and medics did not transport him to the hospital.
Open Trunk Leads to Bust of Wanted Felon
An open trunk led to a bust of a wanted felon just before 6 am.
An officer spotted a car driving down Ohio River Road with the trunk open. When the officer ran the license plate, they discovered there was an open warrant for the vehicle owner.
The driver stopped at Clark’s Pump-n-Shop in Wheelersburg and then got out to shut the trunk. The officer immediately recognized the man as a wanted felon, took him into custody, and called the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy arrived to take the man into custody and transport him to the Scioto County Jail.
Out of Gas and Luck
Police responded to a disabled vehicle located under the Waller Street Overpass.
Not only was the vehicle out of gas, but the tags had also expired over a month ago. Police issued a citation for an expired tag, impounded it, and had it towed away.
Windows Shot Out of 17th Street House
At 10:28 am, police responded to a report of windows shot out of a vacant home in the 1300 block of 17th Street.
Officers discovered the damage was caused by the child who lived next door. The parents agreed to pay for the damage.
Teen Causes Panic at Bank
Police responded to the US Bank main branch on Chillicothe Street at 10:44 am for a report of someone inside a black SUV kicking the door and yelling for help.
It turned out three unruly teens inside the vehicle were responsible for the call. Police talked to their father about the dangers of inducing panic and how it could have all gone very wrong.
The officer reported that the father seemed unconcerned.
