Nancy Kay Bateman, 70, of Bolivia, North Carolina finally gained her wings on Monday, August 24, 2026 at Traditions of Bristol Village in Waverly. She was born January 20, 1956 in Hillsboro, Ohio to the late Harry Paul Oppy and Imogene Throckmorton Oppy Crabtree.
Surviving are her loving husband, Bruce Bateman of North Carolina; sons, Craig (Courtney Corey) Jordan of Hillsboro and Ryan (Angela) Jordan of South Lebanon, Ohio; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Diana Lee, Kitty Burchett and Lora (Ivan) Crabtree; and many, many nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by siblings, Karen Sue “Glen” Ellis, Patty Crabtree, Harry Paul Oppy and Barb Overman and Tonya Fetzer
Nancy was fun loving and the life of the party. She loved her Christmas celebrations with her mother and sisters, and being “Aunt Nan” was a big part of who she was. She loved spending time in the Carolinas looking at lighthouses and making memories at the beach.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2026 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Bob Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
