Shoplifters continue to cause problems for local businesses, and frequently, it’s the same people over and over again. Just after 9:30 pm, the Dollar General on Harding reported that a man who’d been trespassed from the store after multiple shoplifting incidents was back in the business. He left before officers arrived.
Speedway employees called 911 at 11:40 pm to report a man in a red shirt who refused to leave the store. They said they’d caught the man attempting to steal from the store multiple times and wanted him barred. However, he left before officers arrived.
Thieves Target BP and Salvation Army
Just before 7 am, an employee at the BP on Gallia reported that a man in Bud Light pajama pants stole some batteries and took off in the direction of McDonald’s.
When officers responded to the scene, the guy was nowhere to be found. Police took information for a report.
Around 2 pm, the battery theft returned, and employees called the police again. However, he left before officers arrived.
At 3:30 pm, workers at the Salvation Army Family store reported a woman shoplifting at the store. Officers caught up with her a few minutes later and discovered she had open warrants in Pike County.
Police transported her to the county line and handed her over to Pike County Deputies.
At 4 pm, the owners of Hallmark Health Care reported someone stole the cover from their outside electric box. Officers took information for a report and discussed options for securing the box.
Thief Targets Fast Stop Customer
Officers responded to the Fast Stop Market after a caller said a young man stole his wallet off the counter and was trying to start problems with him at the store.
He left before officers arrived, but police soon caught up with the juvenile and took him home. The boy’s mother said he was currently on probation. Officers retrieved the wallet, and the victim declined to press charges.
The mother said she’d take the boy to speak to his probation officer.
