When someone isn’t welcome, most folks take the hint. Not Ryan Miller.
Deputies with the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office were called to a South Webster home after a woman said a man who wasn’t allowed near her daughter’s house had shown up anyway — and wasn’t taking “no” for an answer.
Minutes later, the situation escalated: the same man was reportedly trying to kick in the front door.
🗯️ Deputies rushed to the scene, but Miller had already hit the road — literally. A short time later, they caught up with him on foot and took him into custody.
🚔 Miller was booked into the Scioto County Jail on charges of criminal trespass and probation violation. That probation stemmed from a domestic violence conviction in June, where he was also accused of violating a protection order. Though sentenced to 180 days in jail, the time was suspended, and Miller was put on 3 years’ probation.
🔁 But just a few weeks later, he’s allegedly back at it.
Despite the clear violation, the Portsmouth Municipal Court released him on his own recognizance, pending a July 31 hearing. That’s right — no bond, even though he’s already violated probation in under a month.
🛡️ What To Do If Someone Is Menacing You or Won’t Leave:
- Call 911 immediately — especially if they’re violating a court order or making threats.
- Do NOT confront them — stay inside, lock your doors, and wait for law enforcement.
- Keep documentation — take photos, save messages, and record any threatening behavior.
- Request a protection order if one isn’t already in place.
- Tell the court everything — especially if someone violates probation. It could affect their sentencing.
👏 Kudos to the quick-acting deputies who got Miller off the street — even if the court system isn’t keeping him there.
