Tensions are running high at the Alexandria House PMHA Apartments after residents say repeated break-in attempts and encounters with trespassers have left them feeling unsafe — and unheard.
One resident told Scioto County Daily News he’s reported four attempted break-ins. “For 15 months, I’ve been making numerous reports to management when there’s someone here,” he said. “There’s no security, and we’re told police can’t do anything unless PMHA lets them. I’ve been through way too much because of this.”
SCDN reviewed daily police call logs and confirmed multiple reports matching the man’s complaints.
Disturbance in the Night
The chaos continued this week when residents called police about a woman wandering the building in a nightgown, allegedly saying she wanted to murder everyone. Officers found the woman, who turned out to have an open warrant out of New Boston. That department sent an officer to serve her with a summons, but it doesn’t appear any arrests were made.
Another Door, Another Incident
Later that same evening, police were back after another caller said a different woman was “door surfing,” trying to buzz her way into the building by calling random apartments. When officers arrived, the woman claimed she was just trying to get inside to retrieve cigarettes from a friend — and said the caller had yelled at her.
Because she wasn’t on the PMHA’s “barred” list, police said their hands were tied.
Residents say they’ve had enough. “It’s not right that we have to live like this,” one man said. “Something has to change.
