Portsmouth Police had their hands full during the overnight hours as a string of strange and chaotic incidents kept officers bouncing from one bizarre call to the next.
👗 Fight in a Pink Nightgown
Just after 2 a.m., witnesses at the Four Keys Inn reported a raucous argument in the parking lot between a woman in a pink nightgown and a heavily tattooed bald man. While the scene sounded dramatic, officers determined it was just a verbal spat. Three units responded and issued a warning for the couple to chill out before things escalated further.
💥 Smash and Dash at Oasis Mart
At 2:52 a.m., a glass break alarm went off at the Oasis Convenient Mart on 17th Street. Officers discovered a window shattered but no suspect on scene. They contacted the business owner and collected security footage to aid in the investigation. A report was filed, and the case remains open.
🙏 “I Want to Go to Rehab”
Around 12:30 a.m., a distressed woman approached an officer outside Dollar General and said she wanted help getting into rehab. The officer tried to assist and find resources, but when told she couldn’t sit in the police cruiser to wait, she simply walked away.
🥊 Shadowboxing on Gallia Street
At 3:20 a.m., a man was seen in front of Portsmouth Ambulance, apparently high and wildly shadowboxing with an invisible opponent. Police arrived and promptly took him into custody for disorderly conduct. He was booked into the Scioto County Jail, hopefully to sober up from whatever bout he was fighting.
From rehab requests to ghost fights, it was just another unpredictable night for Portsmouth’s first responders.
