Car Thieves Steal Keys From Sleeping Woman’s Bra
A pair of car thieves stole a set of keys from a sleeping woman’s bra and a PPD officer kills the same raccoon twice. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Suspicious Activity
Just after noon, a caller reported a homeless person yelling and screaming near the dugouts at Spartan Stadium. Officers were unable to locate the guy.
Under the Influence
A citizen flagged down an officer to report a man assaulting a woman near Osborne’s Cleaners. The pair were gone when officers arrived, but they did find needles on the ground and cleaned them up. Witnesses said the woman headed in the direction of Giovanni’s.
Officer Attempts Unsuccessful Killing of Sick Racoon at Tattoo Shop
Just after 1:30 pm, a caller reported a sick raccoon stumbling around in the alley between Shamrock Tattoos and Wright’s Feed Store.
An officer feared the sick animal might attempt to bite someone and attempted to kill it with a brick at 1:47 pm.
Just after 2 pm, a caller reported that the attempted raccoon euthanasia was unsuccessful and the sick animal was looking at her.
An officer went back to the scene five minutes later to finish the job.
Car Thieves Steal Keys From Sleeping Woman’s Bra
A Summit Street caller contacted police at 2:46 pm to report that 2 women who were staying with her stole her vehicle while she slept.
She said the keys were hidden in her bra. She identified the suspects and officers took information for a report.
Just after 4 pm, officers stopped the vehicle at 3rd and Brown. The owner declined to press charges but wanted the women who took the car to stay away from her.
Because the tags were expired, the woman arranged for a tow truck to take the vehicle back to her home.
Domestic Violence
- Just before 11 pm, a woman told police she was beaten up inside a Mabert Road home. Police spoke with both the man and the woman but said the woman refused to cooperate and was acting “unreasonable and chaotic.” The officer reported the man said he had put his hands on her shoulder to restrain her when she attempted to hit him. The upset woman left the area without giving the officer any information or filing a report.
- At 11:17 pm, a citizen flagged down an officer at the Oasis Convenient Mart to report an incident of domestic violence at a Wayne Avenue Apartment. The alleged victim was uncooperative and refused to answer the door.
Brick Thrown Through Summit Street Window
A summit Street resident called police just after 11:30 pm to report someone banging on her door and requested extra patrols in the area.
A few minutes later someone threw a brick through her windows. Police took information for a report.
