Charles Edward Horner, 99, of South Webster, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 05, 2025, at the Minford Retirement Center. Born on August 14, 1926, in Portsmouth, he was the son of the late Robert Horner Sr. and Anna (McGregor) Horner.
Charles spent his younger years working on the family farm, a job he took great pride in throughout his life. He was a dedicated member of the Masonic Lodge in Oak Hill and was honored as the oldest living Mason in the area. Known for his sharp wit and youthful spirit, Charles often remarked that he was proud never to look his age.
He was formally a member of Firebrick United Methodist Church and Christ United Methodist Church, where he faithfully served as superintendent. His faith and service to others were central parts of his life. Charles retired as foreman at the A Plant and enjoyed his family and friends, while living his best life.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Ethel Horner, and Rosaline Horner; his infant daughter, Diane Horner; and his brothers, Robert Horner Jr. and Thomas D. Horner.
He is survived by his three daughters, Elaine McGraw of Wheelersburg, Brenda Rollins and her husband Lonnie of Wheelersburg and Kenita Keck and her husband Steve of Newark. Charles also leaves behind two grandchildren, Bryan Butts and his wife Tiffany, and Ken Keck and his wife Sydney, as well as four great-grandchildren, Ava, Bransen, Charlie and Dawson.
Family will receive friends for visitation Monday, November 10, 2025, 4:00PM- 6:00PM and one hour prior to the Funeral on Tuesday, at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in South Webster. Funeral Service will be Tuesday November 11, 2025 at 12NOON at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Tom Charles, interment to follow at South Webster Cemetery.
Charles will be remembered for his kindness, humor, dedication to his family, and lifelong service to his community and faith. His legacy of hard work and love will live on in all who knew him.
