Dale Edward Ratliff, 78, of South Shore, KY, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 24, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Portsmouth, OH., August 25, 1947, a son of the late Edward and Arlie Armstong Ratliff.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Pamela Ruark Ratliff; two sisters, Glenda Cooper and Joyce Ratliff; and one sister-in-law, Debbie Ratliff.
Dale was married to Pam for 52 years, together they had one son; Mike “Rachet” (Kassie) Ratliff of South Shore, KY; two granddaughters, Micah (Bryce) Wellman of Robinson, IL, and Savannah Ratliff of South Shore, KY. Also surviving is one brother, Larry Ratliff of Garrison, KY., and several other extended family members and friends who will miss him so much.
Dale was a great basketball player of Lewis County High School, averaging 19 points a game his junior & senior year, and holding several school records. After high school, he attended Morehead State University for 2 years, then volunteered to join the Navy during the Vietnam War to fight for his country. He was stationed in Da Nang during the late 60’s through the early 70’s. He was a proud Patriot and loved the United States of America. He was a 60-year member of the American Legion post 276 and retired from the Millwright Local Union 1519 in Ironton, OH.
Dale enjoyed bass fishing and going on many fishing trips through the years with his friends. His favorite time was being spent with his family. Dale was a devoted husband, father, papaw, brother, uncle, and son.
Funeral services will be 1 P.M. Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with Donny McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow at MT Zion Cemetery in South Shore, KY. Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday at the funeral home from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour.
