A frantic report of a stabbing sent deputies racing to an apartment complex, where a blood-covered doorway and silence inside raised immediate concerns.
According to a report from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were initially given limited information about the location, only knowing it involved an apartment number. After checking multiple units without success, they were able to narrow down the correct residence.
When deputies arrived, they found blood on the door and a bloody towel nearby. After repeated attempts to make contact with no response, they forced entry due to the seriousness of the call.
Inside, they found a woman with visible injuries, including bruising and a cut on her wrist. Deputies reported she appeared disoriented and possibly under the influence. After securing the apartment, she told deputies the situation involved a violent altercation with her husband.
She claimed he had been aggressive and choked her, and that during the confrontation, a knife was involved. She also alleged he injured himself during the incident. Deputies were unable to locate a knife inside the apartment.
Due to her condition, deputies requested EMS. She was transported to the hospital but later left before receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, deputies worked to locate the man reportedly involved. They learned he had been picked up by a family member and taken out of the area. Authorities in a neighboring county were contacted and made contact with him. He told investigators he would cooperate if needed.
Detectives followed up and spoke with him as part of the investigation.
Deputies collected evidence from the scene, including the bloody towel, documented injuries and damage, secured the apartment, and cleared the call.
