Officers responded to a report of a vulnerable adult left out in the cold. A caller said she’d taken in a man she’d found outside in the cold and was worried about his safety.
Officers noted the man was dirty and smelled as if he hadn’t washed in some time. The man said his stepfather was abusive to him, locked him out of the house when his parents weren’t home, and refused to allow him to shower.

Deputies made contact with an aunt who said the man could stay with her for a couple of weeks, but not any longer. The woman who called the officers agreed to take him to the relative’s house.
Officers noted that the man had been known to make up stories in the past, but they did contact Adult Protective Services to check into the matter.
