VICTIM BREAKS SILENCE, ABUSER ARRESTED AFTER OTHERS INTERVENE IN SEVERE CASE OF VIOLENCE
In a dramatic turn of events, a Lawrence County woman was rescued from a violent abuser after a brave confession to law enforcement led to the arrest of a man for domestic violence. The harrowing situation unfolded when a woman reached out for help, detailing severe physical abuse at the hands of her partner.
THE CALL FOR HELP: A CRY FOR SAFETY
It all began when a concerned individual contacted a Highway Patrolman via radio, informing him of a domestic situation involving serious abuse. The woman reported that another woman was being violently attacked by her partner, prompting authorities to spring into action.
Upon arriving near US 52 and St. Rt. 243, a Lawrence County Deputy and Ohio State Patrolman made their way to the woman’s residence. The victim, visibly shaken and bruised, greeted officers and stepped outside to speak with them.
THE VICTIM SPEAKS OUT: FEAR OF DEATH AND DESPERATION
The woman was found with bruises all over her face and arms, but initially hesitated to open up. Officers reassured her, offering support, and she eventually admitted to being abused by her partner.
She explained that the attacker’s rage stemmed from believing his phone was being hacked, and when he thought she wasn’t helping, he brutally struck her in the face. The victim revealed the horrific details of her ordeal, including threats to kill her if she contacted the police. He even went so far as to stick a gun in her mouth to prevent her from reaching out for help.
Finally, the woman agreed to fill out an affidavit and seek justice.
THE ARREST: JUSTICE SERVED
While she completed the paperwork, officers attempted to make contact with the abuser, but he refused to answer the door. With the woman’s consent, police entered the residence, where they discovered the man trying to hide in the back room of the house.
He was swiftly arrested for domestic violence and was transported to the Lawrence County Jail.
A MESSAGE OF HOPE: SPEAK OUT AND SEEK HELP
This brave woman’s decision to come forward and share her story is a testament to the strength of victims in these dire situations.
