What started as a heated family argument turned into a double arrest after a concerned mom dialed 911 fearing her son’s girlfriend had just taken a handful of pills during a fight.
Officers rushed to the scene and spoke with the woman in question, who insisted she’d only taken prescribed medication — and after evaluation, police said she seemed okay.
But that wasn’t the end of it.
Two in Custody
Police discovered Andrew Mayhone had an active warrant for domestic violence, and took him into custody.
Meanwhile, his girlfriend Jossalyn Johnson reportedly got combative with officers and was charged with obstruction of official business and resisting arrest.
Both were hauled off to the Scioto County Jail.
💬 When Tensions Rise at Home: What to Do Before the Police Show Up
Domestic disputes happen — but letting them escalate can lead to criminal charges, broken trust, and long-term consequences. Here are some smart steps to take when emotions run high:
✅ Step Away to Cool Down
Put some space between yourself and the other person. Even a walk around the block can reset your brain and prevent things from escalating.
🧠 Think Before You React
Raising your voice, making threats, or throwing accusations only throws fuel on the fire. If needed, bring in a neutral third party or mediator to help calm things down.
📞 Call for Help — The Right Kind
If you’re worried about someone taking pills or threatening self-harm, call for medical help first. You can also reach out to mental health hotlines or crisis centers.
🚫 Know When to Leave
If it’s clear that the relationship is becoming toxic, don’t wait for the cops to make that call for you. Prioritize safety — especially if children are in the home.
