First responders swung into action to save a man who attempted to take his life.
Just before midnight, a caller contacted 9-1-1 to say he’d just gone to the home of a friend who was having problems and discovered the man had shot himself.
Fortunately, the man was still awake and breathing. Deputies and an ambulance headed to the scene.
The victim was still alert enough to tell officers he’d shot himself with a .38. Deputies secured the weapon and an ambulance transported the man to the hospital while deputies processed the scene.
Deputies discovered he’d texted his family for help after surviving the suicide attempt. The man had left a suicide note, which officers took into evidence.
SOMC later transferred the man to Grant Hospital for further treatment.
