A Lucasville woman’s worried texts about her boyfriend led deputies straight to a domestic violence arrest.
According to the sheriff’s office, the caller said she’d been getting alarming messages from another woman who claimed her boyfriend had just gotten out of prison a week ago, was on drugs, and had barricaded himself in the bathroom earlier in the day. The woman also warned deputies that he might try to run when they arrived.
When officers got to the scene, they found Jacob Thompson and took him into custody without further incident. He was booked into the Scioto County Jail on a domestic violence charge.
Thompson appeared in Portsmouth Municipal Court, where a judge released him on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to court on November 17.
The arrest highlights how quickly things can escalate when drugs and recent prison releases collide — and how deputies often have to sort fact from rumor when arriving on volatile domestic calls.
