Georgene (Kalb) Bussey, 80, of Portsmouth went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at her home. She was born December 24, 1942, to the late Earl D.
Kalb and Rosemary Ethel (Robbit) Kalb in Portsmouth. Georgene was a 1960 graduate of Clay High School and earned an associate’s degree from Portsmouth Business College. Georgene had a long career at several businesses as an executive secretary including OSCO Industries, USS Chemical, Williams Shoe Factory, Portsmouth Metropolitan Housing Authority, and Scioto County Jobs and Family Services. She was a volunteer at Southern Ohio Medical Center since 1970.
Georgene was a member of the Cardio Guild and the Pleasure Guild. Georgene was a member of SOMC’s Breast Cancer Support Group for 20 years. She loved making crafts, doing needlework, and painting, she and her husband traveled for years to craft shows all over the state.
Georgene is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ralph Bussey of Portsmouth; a daughter, Denise Bussey of Portsmouth; a brother, David Michael Kalb and wife Josie of Rosemount; three sisters, Letty Herren of Dayton, Sue Herst and husband Jeff of Wilmington, DE, and Denise Carbough and husband Ed of Chesapeake, VA; five grandchildren, Keith Dunn and wife Carrie of Lancaster, Justin Dunn of Dayton, Amanda Spencer and husband Keith of West Portsmouth, Tiffany Carver and husband Jason of West Portsmouth, and C.J. Bussey of New Boston; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Christopher Scott Bussey; two brothers, Earl Kalb and Bruce Kalb; and two sisters, Phyllis Hayward and Marcella Shugart.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2023, at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Frank Stidham officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the funeral home.
