Golden Buckley, 80, of Portsmouth, died Friday, October 25, 2024 at Portsmouth Health and Rehab, where she had resided for over 20 years. She was born December 8, 1943 in Roanoke, VA to the late John Witcha and Elizabeth Forest. In addition to her parents, Goldens had 3 brothers and 4 sisters that preceded her in death, Eddie Nicholson, Edward June Nicholson, Robert Lee Nicholson, Mary Anne Saunders, Lorraine Ainsley, Annie Lowery, and Lucille Wilson, and a niece, Barbara Watts.
Golden never had children of her own, so she loved all of her nieces and nephews as if they were her own. She is survived by nieces and nephews, Donald Reeves (Desiree) of Portsmouth, George Lowery (Shawna) of Portsmouth, Shamika Lowery of North Carolina, Deirdre Renee Mitchell, Valerie Ann Ainsley, Henry Waker Senior, Joseph Waker Senior, Eva Waker Alexander, Janice Nicholson, Laurie Nicholson and Darrell Nicholson all of Roanoke Virginia, Lottie Otey of Cincinnati, Carolyn Lewis of Ironton. Along with many cousins and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth. A graveside service will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Portsmouth.
