Mr. James E. Cochran, 76, of Ironton, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2019, at the University of Cincinnati Hospital.
The Ironton native was born August 3, 1943, a son to the late Wilburn and Jewell (Kingery) Cochran. James was also proceeded in death by his wife, Helen (Newcomb) Cochran who passed away in September 2002.
Mr. Cochran was a graduate of Kitts Hill High School. James was an auto body repairman at Shaffer Brothers where he retired in 2003 after 28 years of service. James loved spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He was also a member of the Lawrence County Bass Club.
James E. Cochran is survived by:
two daughters: Jamie (Les) Ellis of Ironton and Tina (Denver) Wells of Ironton
four grandchildren: Jeffrey (Jessica) Wells of Madisonville, KY; Kaelynn Ellis; Emmalee Ellis; and Nate Ellis all of Ironton
a special friend: Janet McKenzie
a sister: Shirley (Don) Asbury of Arizona
three brothers: Eddie Cochran of Kitts Hill; Larry (Judy) Cochran; and Rick (Jean) Cochran of Oak Hill, OH.
In addition to his parents and wife, James was proceeded in death by:
a sister: Elizabeth Turley
three brothers: Wilburn Cochran, Kenneth Cochran, and Donald Cochran
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 19, 2019, at Phillips Funeral Home with Bro. Dave Shug officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 18, 2019.
