Officers making a traffic stop discovered the driver had an open warrant and also found drugs in the vehicle.
It all started when a deputy saw a vehicle go left of center on County Road 406. They pulled the driver over on Westbound 52 near mile marker 21.
The driver said he didn’t have an ID because he left his wallet at home, but the deputy spotted a wallet with white powder on the seat. They also noted the driver’s eyes were bloodshot with large pupils. When officers asked if there were drugs in the vehicle, he assured them he didn’t use drugs.
The man refused to allow officers to search the vehicle, so they brought in a K9 officer to check for signs of drugs. The dog alerted on the vehicle, and officers also found a rock-like substance inside of his shirt. He claimed it was drywall, but the substance tested positive for crack cocaine.
Officers also found drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. When they checked the wallet, they found his ID inside and learned the man had supplied them with a false name. He told officers he only smoked crack to stay awake while working.
Additionally, police discovered an open warrant for the man from the Coal Grove Police Department. Officers took him into custody and impounded the suspected drugs.
