Portsmouth police handled two separate reports of inappropriate behavior in public, including one involving a man in a vehicle and another involving concern about children in Tracy Park.
In the first incident, a woman reported seeing a man in a black four-door car with the door open, masturbating.
The caller said the incident happened around 10 a.m., but she did not contact police until later in the afternoon because she was not from the area and wanted to drive back through to get the address.
She described the man as heavy-set with dark hair.
Later that evening, around 7:30 p.m., police were called to Tracy Park after a caller reported a woman putting her hands down her pants with children nearby.
The caller said he was concerned about children seeing the behavior.
Officers checked the area but said they were unable to find anyone matching the description.
Reports like this can be frightening, especially when they happen in broad daylight, near homes, businesses, parks, or children.
If you see someone exposing themselves, masturbating in public, or behaving in a sexually inappropriate way, do not confront them. Get to a safe place, call police, and provide as much detail as possible, including the location, vehicle description, direction of travel, physical description, and whether children or other witnesses are nearby.
Even if officers cannot locate the person right away, a report can help document patterns if similar incidents happen again.
