Portsmouth Police rushed to 5th Street around 11:30 p.m. after a frightened resident reported that a man in a reddish coat with a gray beard walked onto their porch. When the resident asked what he wanted, the stranger allegedly delivered a chilling reply:
“You’ll be dead in a minute.”
Then he walked away.
Officers quickly identified the suspect as Lonnie Dunn, took him into custody for Aggravated Menacing and a probation violation, and booked him into the Scioto County Jail.
Dunn later appeared in Portsmouth Municipal Court, where he was released on his own recognizance. His next court date is set for January 12.
But Dunn is far from a new name in the courthouse.
A LONG RAP SHEET — SPANNING 35 YEARS
Court records show Dunn has faced over 75 charges in Portsmouth Municipal Court alone. Among the most recent:
- June: Convicted of failure to appear — sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 150 suspended
- May 31: Arrested for burglary — charges dismissed
- May 20: Arrested for criminal damage — charges dismissed; convicted of aggravated menacing
- April 19: Convicted of criminal trespass
His record stretches back decades, including past arrests for:
OVI, driving without a license, drug abuse, theft, assault, criminal mischief, multiple disorderly conduct charges, and a 2021 case involving violating a protection order, domestic violence, resisting arrest, and obstruction of official business.
Despite the long history, Dunn once again walks free while awaiting his next appearance.
