Mona Faye Willis McManus, 83, passed away on March 21, 2025, surrounded by family, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Born on March 17, 1942, in Portsmouth, Ohio, she was one of seven children. She graduated from Wheelersburg High School in
1960. She met her love Michael (“Mickey”) in the spring of her senior year, and they married on August 15, 1961.
As a devoted Christian, she served seven churches supporting Mickey’s career in ministry, enhancing it using her gifts of music,
singing, mission work, and hospitality. Mona was talented in many ways — from music, to design and decorating, to technical work in
the hematology lab, and to her artistry in teaching others how to make custom greeting cards.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Lena Willis; and her siblings Jack (Emma) Willis, Carolyn (Paul) Bates,
and Penny Felker; and her brother-in-law Thomas Leightenheimer. She is survived by her beloved husband, Michael
McManus; her son, Mark, her daughter-in-law Barbara, and two grandsons, Carson and Paul; her siblings Marty (Ted) Bussey, Katie
Leightenheimer, and Chuck (Beth) Willis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mona adored her two grandsons and was devoted to being a part of their lives in both routine and special ways. Mona’s love of
others and her generosity in serving others will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those
who loved her.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM on Saturday May 17, 2025 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME (Wolfe-Nelson Chapel) in Sciotoville followed by a Memorial Service at 3 PM.
