In a quiet act of kindness, a Portsmouth Police officer went above and beyond the call of duty to help a confused and injured man get safely home.
Around 7:50 a.m., concerned residents on Dever Street reported seeing a man wandering the neighborhood wearing house shoes and clutching a home phone. He appeared disoriented and had a visible head wound.
Officers arrived about 20 minutes later and located the man. He told them he had just been released from the hospital and was attempting to walk home—despite being in no condition for a long trek.
Instead of simply sending him on his way, one officer stepped up and offered him a ride home to Eden Park.
It’s a small moment that might not make the headlines—but it meant the world to one man in need.
👏 Kudos to the officer for showing compassion and humanity while wearing the badge. It’s these quiet, everyday acts of service that remind us what real community policing looks like.
