A Franklin, Ohio was busted with hundreds of disgusting images of child pornography while he was out on parole for child sex abuse charge. Now, he’s headed straight back to prison for 10 years.
David M. DeVillers, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio announced the sentence today. Garry Weatherbie, 65, of Franklin Ohio was sentenced in U.S. District Court. The judge sentenced him to 10 years in prison and 10 years of supervised released for possession of child pornography.
How much good that supervision will do is questionable. Weatherbie was on parole when he was busted back in February of 2019. Officials said he had more than 600 images of child sexual abuse on a tablet. Weatherbie was paroled from the Chillicothe Correctional Institution after he served an eight-year sentence for pandering sexual material involving a minor after a conviction in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court.
Tablet Packed With Child Porn
But that’s not all Weatherbie was accused of doing. Investigators discovered this latest round of child porn when they arrested him of sexual assault allegations back in February of 2019. Officers searched his home and discovered the tablet packed with child porn. Weatherbie pleaded guilty to the child pornography charge last February.
“This case is a reminder that possessing child pornography is not a victimless crime,” U.S. Attorney David M. DeVillers said. “Even if you do not create the child pornography, you can face significant time in federal prison.”
The special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations for Michigan and Ohio said he hoped this would serve as a warning to other sex predators. “Today’s significant sentencing removes from the community a repeat child predator, who shockingly continued his predatory behavior while on parole for similar crimes,” said Vance Callender. “There is no place in our society for those who prey on children. HSI and its partners will continue to aggressively target those who exploit children.”
