Officials say a man is charged with murder after first responders found a woman dead at the scene of what initially came in as an overdose call.
Police in Ironton, Ohio responded to a 7th Street home on Tuesday after a call came in reporting a possible overdose death.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they looked inside and spotted two people on the kitchen floor. Someone in the house gave officers permission to enter and they discovered 58-year-old Joseph Lewis sitting on the floor next to a woman they say appeared to be seriously injured.
Medics determined the woman was deceased and officers took Lewis into custody on a murder charge. Police say he is currently in the Lawrence County Jail.
