Officers responded to multiple instances involving overdoses over the weekend.
Around 2 am on Friday, Deputies and EMS responded to Ainsley Avenue in Wheelersburg for a report of an overdose where the victim was not breathing. However, by the time officers arrived on the scene, the man had come around and refused further medical attention.
Just after 5:30 am, EMS and officers responded to a report that a woman overdosed on 7th Street. Medics transported her to the hospital for treatment.
Around 8 pm, a Wayne Avenue caller reported they were doing CPR on an unresponsive overdose victim. Medics from the Portsmouth Fire Department were able to revive the victim. He refused further medical treatment and did not want to speak to members of the QRT response team. Officers left him in the care of a woman in the apartment.
Just after 9 am a man called for help after a woman came to his house and passed out in the bathtub. Medics responded to the scene and requested help from police.
The woman agreed to leave with a member of the drug crisis response team.
At noon, medics and officers responded to 5th Street after a report that a man overdosed. He was revived with two doses of Narcan. Police learned he had an open probation warrant.
The probation officer told them to send him to detox and have him report to probation on Monday.
At 1 pm, a caller requested help for a man who’d been sitting in a vehicle near Goodwill for a long time. When officers arrived, they determined he’d overdosed and sent for the drug crisis response team.
EMS and deputies responded to Minford for a report of an overdose around 3:30 pm on Sunday. Witnesses said the victim had stopped breathing. However, medics were able to revive the individual who refused further treatment.
