Overdoses: 17th, 16th, 8th, Kent, and Gallia Streets
Just after 4:30 pm on Friday, officers responded to a report of an overdose behind a PMHA Apartment on 17th Street. Police took a man with a long history of arrests into custody for probation violation and escape. This was his 21st arrest.
EMS and PPD officers responded to the 16th Street apartments just after 10 pm when a caller reported a woman on drugs tearing up an apartment. Based on the woman’s behavior, SOMC agreed with the medics that she was a candidate for commitment. Officers stood by to make sure the woman cooperated with medical personnel.
PPD responded to a report of a man overdosing on a porch next door to the Fast Stop Market on 8th Street. When police arrived on the scene, they discovered the man had an open warrant and took him into custody.
Officers and EMS responded to a report of an overdose on Kent Street Saturday night. Police provided assistance to the Portsmouth Fire Department.
Just after noon on Sunday, a caller reported an apparently high on Gallia Street. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered a man with a long history of arrests who happened to have an open warrant. Officers took him into custody for disorderly conduct. This was his 22 arrest.
